Florida Theme Park Black Friday Sales - 2020 Edition

Image
It's the holiday season again, and that means Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoppers trying to score the best prices of the year on things they want to buy. Florida theme parks have been quick to hop on the shopping holiday, and while you won't see the Disney World and Universal Orlando giants offering flash sales this time of year, nearly everybody else is.  Here are some of the hot deals you can score this holiday weekend. SeaWorld Orlando has up to 60% off one-day tickets, animal encounters, and other in-park upgrades. Annual passes  Legoland Florida has Awesomer annual passes at $99.99 ($80 off) and hotel packages at roughly 50% off. Fun Spot in Orlando and Kissimmee have 2021 annual passes for $75.95, nearly 50% off the $149.95 price. They are good now through the end of 2021 so it's more like a 13+ month pass. The pass is good at all three Fun Spot parks (in Orlando, Kissimmee, and Georgia).   Some of the deals like SeaWorld and Legoland Florida end at midni...

The Great LEGO Race Review - Legoland Florida

Image
There's 2 1/2 hours of people in there. The Great LEGO Race -- billed as the first virtual reality coaster for families -- opened on March 23, 2018 in Legoland Florida. We kicked the tires the following afternoon, and unlike the first wave of reviews coming from the March 23 media day that found reporters having the ride to themselves, we put Legoland to the test on a busy day with peak crowds. The wait when we arrived was 2 1/2 hours. Yes, 150 minutes for a kiddie coaster. The good news is that it's the best virtual reality coaster that we've been on in terms of how smoothly the effects correlate with the actual attraction. Anyone familiar with the original ride knows the swoops and sharp turns, and the virtual race between Lego minifigures has some clever scenes to justify the sharp movements. Neither of us felt queasy after the ride, something that mars some VR experiences. The bad news is that the addition of VR slows down the throughput for a ride that was a...

909 Waterside Lane - Apartment 310

Image
This week's featured Celebration, Florida house is actually a condo. Apartment 310 at 909 Waterside Lane is one of the rare two-story penthouse condos in the building with a second-level loft area. The third and fourth floors that you see in this snapshot are the condo. A covered parking space on the ground floor and a nearby elevator can whisk you up to the third floor for a Mediterranean style home complete with a built-in fireplace and two private balconies. Most of the living area takes place on the lower floor. That's where the two bedrooms and two baths are located as well as a foodie-friendly kitchen and even a built-in fireplace. However, the reason that this property makes the cut -- despite asking roughly $80,000 more than the average Waterside Lane condo at its $312,388 asking price-- is the media room loft where three rows of stadium seating can seat six guests as they watch a movie, the big game, or play video games. Another slick feature is the large c...
